我们很少看电视，但是，少看电脑太难了，咚咚又是特别喜欢看动画片。

刚才检查咚咚的作业本，发现她的上课笔记，3月15日那一页上写着很大的：

看着咚咚这1年多的成长，多希望一切可以重新再来，爸爸还是每天送你上学，接你放学

估计很多年后，

周六下午的farewell party非常成功，这完全归功于cristin。我就知道找她出点子、帮忙绝对错不了，对于party还有各种好玩的事情，她总是有很多想法并且能够成功地付诸实施，下面是她之前给我的邮件：

Ok, so....here is what I am thinking.

Party theme: Farewell, Chicago/United States, Shanghai.

Farewell:  Words and phases in both English and Mandarin (script and pingyin) saying-
good-bye, hello, love, fun, family, friends, airplane, names of U.S. city names you've visited and names of Chinese cities, including Shanghai....

Take these words and write onto large colorful papers (maybe red) and put up all over the room. One word per paper. (You can buy construction paper at many stores...Target is a good store for that)

Chicago/United States:  pictures, drawings, print outs of Chicago buildings, skyline, Millenieum Park, etc.. and picture of Zoe, Lucas, Ling, Guaming, enjoying Chicago. Museums, Aquarium, California, etc...Print out pictures and either:

1) put pictures into photo albums for people to look at during the party
2) OR...print out pictures and tape onto large poster board or large paper (to stick up on wall)

My suggestion: do a little of both.

Shanghai:    People will be happy to learn more about where you are going back to. Pictures (even if off the internet) of Shanghai, buildings, culture, etc...Chinese decorations....

Food and Drinks

You should have a mixture of Chinese and American to continue with the theme of the party.
Drinks (water bottles, juice boxes)

American

Pizza (cheese only for kids, and vegetable or meat topping for adults) (Costco has large/good pizzas for $10 each (cheap). We could order in morning and pick up at 11am. OR....order pizzas in the area that can be delivered
Salad (Again, Costco has wonderful and cheap salads all ready made)

Shanghai

Anything you feel is traditional and that people would like. Can make or buy. Important to theme to include Chinese food.

Games

Color the card activity:  Kids can gather around and color a large good-bye card to your family (focus on Zoe perhaps, yet include entire family). (I will bring this) (Kids can include messages of love for Zoe and the family...) (this activity is also good as people are slowing arriving late.)

Pin the airplane on the city: (draw a large map of the world with only 2 cities labled (Chicago and Shanghai) (kids are blindfolded, spin around, and pin/stick (with tape) the 'airplane' onto the correct city. (I will bring this as well)

Dance time. (If you have a music/CD player or portable laptop to play CDs. kids can dance and play. They LOVE this. Let me know if you have a CD player. If not, let me know and I have something I could bring, although it is small (not loud). I also have some CDs for kids music if you don't.

Fashion show (for girls): I could bring dress up clothes if Zoe likes this idea. I do need to confirm with Ella first, as we'd be borrowing her stuff. :)

Sack relay race: Kids get into teams and jump in sacks from start to finish line (I can bring this)

Mandarin songs: (Zhao ya Zhao ya...)(I can lead this)(If Ling has another would be great, maybe do the Wolf game as well..laoshi, laoshi, jidian le?)

Eating: designated time for eating.

Speeches:  Kids and adults can stand up and say a few words. (I can lead this, so you feel humble and I lead it) (happy to do this!) (people can continue eating during this quieter time as well)

Gifts: American culture is to open later (to respect those who did not/were not able to bring presents, YET...Chinese culture is to open in front of the gift giver to honor them. Americans also do open presents in front of guests at certain gatherings..this would be one of those occasions, so I think we should have this as part of the party). (plus...for those who want/need to leave few minutes early, they could exit at this time)

What to buy

Colorful (or just Red) construction paper (Target or Costco)
Markers (black Sharpie pens, as well as colorful markers for kids)
Poster Boards (Staples or Target) (White large poster boards to stick pictures to) (if you buy poster boards, you won't need to stick anything to the walls in your party room. Poster Boards are more expensive, yet practical. Otherwise, you can use large paper.
Food
Drinks
"Kids Bop" CD (of American current music, with lyrics changed a bit to be appropriate for children) (burn for free of internet, buy, or don't buy, just play music for free directly off the internet, off your laptop or CD player)
Party favors: (optional) Something for each child to take home. I suggest something Chinese. Something cheap, small, something to remember Zoe by. No candy or toys, just one simple item. Could be Chinese fan from China town, or picture of Shanghai with your family beside picture. Could buy or make something. Again, this is optional, yet would be nice.
Sign in book:  (optional) a simple pretty blank pages book for people to sign, in memory of Zoe and your family.(can buy at Target)
