Everyday News
Women are grumpier than men in the morning
Men know better than to rub their wives the wrong way in the morning and have their heads bitten off, for 6 in 7 women are in a foul mood after waking up.
A new research has found that not only are women grumpier than men, but also that they remain in a foul mood for longer. A survey by The Sleep Council showed a quarter of men never wake up in a bad mood, compared to just one in seven women.
And reeling from a sleepless night, caused mainly by stress and worry, 13 per cent of women remain in a bad mood for up to four hours, compared to ten per cent of men.
Jessica Alexander of the Sleep Council said women's grumpiness may be worsened because they shoulder most of the household chores in the morning.
"Twenty-eight per cent of women as opposed to only 5 per cent of men do any housekeeping before going to work," she was quoted by the DailyMail, as saying.
"It tends to be them that prepares the breakfast, spends time with the children, check their emails and attend to their beauty regime. Women far outweigh men in having a busy and packed morning.
So what do men do? Apparently just get up and go out: 17 per cent of them spend only 10 minutes on their wake up and get out routine," she added.
The survey found that four in ten people believe a disturbed night is the main reason for grumpiness in the morning.
Nearly one in five of the population say they never really get a good night's sleep.

Brits plug in MP3 players at work
Nearly a quarter of British workers plug in their MP3 players to listen to music while on the job -- sparking lively debate over whether they should be banned, a study said.
Over 30 percent of companies have outlawed using devices like the ubiquitous iPod in the workplace, according to Woods Bagot, an international design practice.
"By wearing the highly-visible, white headphones, they're ... sending a signal to colleagues that they don't want to be bothered," said Simon Pole, head of the company's head of corporate interiors.
According to the study, 22 percent of workers spend an average of three hours per day listening to MP3 players.
But some argue that the trend is only natural: previously workers were physically separated by walls, whereas offices are increasingly open-plan nowadays, pushing them to erect new barriers.
"The MP3 player is the simplest way to create your own office," said the company.
And Cary Cooper, professor of organization psychology at Lancaster University, and author of "Shut up and Listen: The Truth About How to Communicate at Work," said bans were counter-productive.
"Employers are wrong to ban MP3 players from the workplace. It's crucial to give workers autonomy, and bans of any sort can alienate workers," he said.
"Bosses shouldn't care about how employees accomplish their objectives or if they want to engross themselves in MP3 players -- as long as the job gets done," he added.

China Economy Overview
The size of the Chinese economy is likely to climb, in world rankings, from its current position as the sixth largest to the second largest by 2030, said economists with global investment bank Lehman Brothers.
With its gross domestic product (GDP) growing at an annual rate of 6 per cent, China will come in after the United States to secure the second place spot, the economists said.
Such an economy stands to offer exciting business and capital market opportunities to foreigners over the next 10 years or so, said Robert Subbaraman, a Lehman Brothers senior economist who is the co-author of a newly released comprehensive report on China's economic, political, social and foreign policy prospects over the next 10 years.
At a press conference last week in Beijing, Subbaraman and his colleagues offered detailed explanations of their forecasts regarding the impact of the country's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), growth opportunities and how to do business in China.
